How to Buy a Cheap Instrument - Saint James Infirmary Blues
Sometimes we need a cheap instrument, whether we are broke or traveling. I picked up this baritone ukulele for $20. After playing around with the tunings a bit, I settled on "plectrum tuning", which is C,G,B,D. That tuning brought out a rich tone from the instrument. I play "Saint James Infirmary Blues", the classic New Orleans funeral march, so you can hear what an awesome rhythm and melody instrument the uke became just by tuning down two strings... even with a broken finger! Playing music does not have to be expensive. For centuries, people just made do with what they had and made music better than most today!
